Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, Adult Swim welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, not long after, the channel launched a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. At a time often defined by dark humor, this show's earnestness struck a chord and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series follows three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

Network Praise

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and championed its uniquely offbeat sensibility.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about following this lovable family navigate their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to help comedy break out of its long-running layer of irony. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to experience the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is currently streaming on HBO Max.
