Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
