The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing chaos and insanity with equal excitement, all while telling engaging, socially charged narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two visionaries whose projects have exemplified all of those things.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by having a different backdrop and ensemble in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Each game is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the nature of people through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and present our shared bold, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
